My 30th Birthday Party

I'm not going to lie, I have been dreading this birthday since I turned 27 (when I could no longer say mid-twenties anymore).  I love celebrating other people's birthdays but not my own so I wanted something low key,especially since I would be mourning the loss of my twenties.  We decided to invite some close friends and family for an outdoor cookout and the weather cooperated beautifully.  I was looking forward to eating some great food and drinking my sorrows away with my favorite wine and close friends.

Life seemed to have other plans for me because the day before my birthday we found out we were going to have a baby.  We were thrilled but I can't say a part of me wasn't going to miss that b-day wine.  In all honesty, finding out I was pregnant made turning 30 much easier.  I know it sounds silly but I always wanted to be pregnant before I turned 30 and finding out that I was filled me with peace.  I don't pray as often as I should, well not for myself at least, and when I do the only thing I ever pray for is peace, regardless of the situation I just want to find peace. 

The day was perfect but because we weren't telling anyone (other than our sisters) I had to pretend to drink.  My friends know me and they know I like my wine, especially outside in the company of good friends so it would be very suspect if I wasn't drinking.  Luckily I own a sweet little thing called a Woozie, it's a wine koozie.  I just slipped one over my wine glass and filled it with water, worked like a charm.
